Virginia Space Grant Consortium has been asked to manage the Graduate Research Award program for the Airport Cooperative Research Program of the National Academies Transportation Research Board. This award is not just for U.S. citizens; U. S. or Canadian residents or current student visa holders are eligible.

The program supports applied research in public sector airport-related issues. A broad range of topics embracing many disciplines is identified at the program website.

Awards are for $10,000. The research must be overseen by a faculty advisor.

The program provides funding, subject matter expert support, national recognition, and publication potential through the Transportation Research Record of the Transportation Research Board. Students also have the expense-paid opportunity to present on their work at the Transportation Research Board’s annual meeting in Washington, DC.

Awardees must be enrolled full-time in a graduate degree program at an accredited institution of higher learning during the 2014-2015 academic year.

Application deadline is May 29, 2014. Note that references and University Sponsored Programs signoff are part of the package and require some time to complete.
